Body Not Greatly Changed, A

Synopsis:
In the United States suicide is the tenth major cause of death with 20,000 suicides recorded each year. Inspired by a Seattle newspaper report of the death of an upper class female, Gale Perry, "a Body Greatly Changed" dramatizes the life of the woman who was found dead in the upstairs bedroom of her home in an affluent Seattle suburb. Was the victim murdered? or did she commit suicide as the evidence suggests. The play opens with the pathologist describing the death as "a body not greatly changed"; we go back through Gale's life and see it through the eyes of the people closest to her, her husband, and her mother. Though the course of the play, we see a body greatly changed, but not in the ways that could be discerned by the people who thought that they knew her.
