Barbara anderson, who began writing plays in 1984, has had two of her scripts accepted for the Playwrights´ Workshop - Bonny and Bruce in 1984 and Truth Kick in 1986. Truth Kick (now retitled Joggers) was the joint winner of the 1986 John Cowie Reid Prize for a full-length play. In 1992 she was awarded the Wattie´s Fiction prize for her novel Portrait of the artist´s Wife.

Lightweight domestic comedy with modish roles of an academic mother breadwinner, a house-husband without a career, a teenage daughter with Miss Universe looks and a problem son in kindergarten where his imaginary companion Eric, threatener of barbie dolls, needs silencing. Effective reversal in conclusion.

Impossible To Tell

Synopsis:
brief domestic drama with emotional strength about a girl at the point of deciding not to re-play her mother's role. Clearly defined supporting characters of a nagging Karori mother, infuriating pipe-smoking joke-telling father who calls his daughter Pot-pot, and a boyfriend who's a drop-out already.

Joggers

Synopsis:
a domestic drama set in motion by the return of Tom, adored elder son of Sib and Noel, and his girlfriend Sara, hell-bent on truth-telling. Noel believes that sport and politics don't mix. But joggers running past the picture window constantly remind the family of the issues that divide them
