Crime Of Compassion, A

Synopsis:
Set in Liverpool during the 1930s, George, an unemployed docker, joins a protest march to London about the rise in unemployment. He is subsequently arrested, branded a communist and gaoled. Whilst in prison, his pregnant wife Mary is struggling to make ends meet and pay the rent. Tragedy ensues. after his release, George joins the freedom fighters of the International Brigade to fight for the democratically elected government of Spain against Francos Fascist coup. after his mission he finds himself trapped in a Villa with two other brigadiers, Murphy & Kieran and three Spanish Republicans. they are outnumbered and surrounded, with no way out. Do they surrender or fight to the death. Or can George come up with a plan that may just save them.

Elegy

Synopsis:
This play relates the story of George Roberts, a Liverpool docker who goes to fight in the Spanish Civil War. the play is in two acts with three settings. the first act deals with his life in Liverpool in 1937. the second act takes place 12 months later in a cellar and a villa in Spain. the story unravels why he ended up there and contradictions of the motives of his comrades in the villa in their darkest hour.

Synopsis:
the enemy within explores the relationship between an elderly woman and the male home help she has thrust upon her against her will. their changing attitudes towards each other and the consequences of two opposites forging an unlikely friendship, which eventually goes beyond client, employer, relations, resulting in hurt and happiness for them both, in different ways.

Youthie

Synopsis:
This is a play about an inner city youth club and the freshness a new member of staff, Dan Billington, brings to the club. established members of staff seem resigned to the lack of expectations their young people have. Dan confronts this. He breathes a breath of fresh air through the club, actually believing the values the club pump out to their members. after Dan's equality workshop the whole essence of the staff regime is turned upside down, resulting in role reversal of the two groups. But amidst the humour tragedy is never far away!
