Tony Benge has been writing plays on and off for over 20 years. In the past he has been lucky enough to have plays commissioned by the Library Theatre Manchester, Contact Youth Theatre, Salford Metropolitan Borough, Radio 4 Drama, Oldham Coliseum, Lifeline Manchester plus 4 short audio plays for Manchester Open Learning, His latest monologue the Miracle Worker was toured with 3 other pieces by the Salisbury based Bootleg Theatre. Tony is also a trained Drama therapist. He now lives in Dorset.

Doing the Life

Synopsis:
Play based on an imagined impromptu life drawing session arranged by students LS Lowry, James Fitton and the fictional Dora Whittaker following a real life dispute between the Bishop of Manchester and Manchester School of art when Fitton was banned by the bishop from attending the art school's life drawing classes because he was deemed too young and in moral danger.

Pile Up

Synopsis:
a motorway pile up in thick fog. Those drivers and passengers involved begin to imagine that avenging rural forces in the hills above the motorway - resentful of the city dwellers intrusion - are also to blame for the incident.
