Synopsis:
April 7, 1868. Less then a year after Confederation, its most eloquent spokesman Thomas D'Arcy McGee is cut down by an assassin's bullet, steps from Parliament Hill. James Whelan, an Irish tailor, is immediately arrested and despite flimsy evidence, is hanged in Canada's last public execution. Portraying witnesses, attorneys and the judge, Whelan reviews his arrest, trial and execution.
