        Snow Queen, The

Snow Queen, The

Synopsis:
Performed by over 70 members of the Chichester Festival Youth theatre the Snow Queen is a magical tale of transformation, friendship, fantastical creatures and a journey to icy lands which has captured the imagination of children for nearly 175 years.Just like the Ugly Duckling and the Little Mermaid, Hans Christian andersen has created a world of wonder and amazement for children of all ages. One of his rarer, but still iconic, tales the Snow Queen is in fact seven stories in one. Beginning with the tale of a magic malevolent mirror which changes everything good to bad; the main story follows a little girl called Gerda who loses her best friend, a little boy called Kay. armed only with her red kicking boots, some pots of honey and some geriatric magic, join her on a journey through a beautiful bewitched flower garden, down an ice-packed river, when she meets a prince and princess, a rambunctious robber girl and enchanted grannies and granddads from Finland, Lapland and even Chichester. . . all on an epic journey following the Northern Lights to the Snow Queen's Ice Palace itself. Friendship, excitement and adventure are certainly guaranteed in this snowy, icy tale. If you're ready to join Gerda on her quest to find Kay and the Snow Queen, bring all your friends and family - the more the merrier! In the meantime, we'll get ready for the Christmas adventure of a lifetime.
