Sofia is a Tasmanian born playwright and musician currently based in Melbourne, Australia, also performing internationally with the band Vardos on piano accordion. She studied Modern Languages at University in Tasmania and playwriting with the Australian National Playwrights Centre. Sofia won the 'Best Emerging Writer' Award at Melbourne Fringe 2012 for her play The Four Accordionists of the Apocalypse. This award was provided by Writers Victoria and Melbourne Theatre Company.

Accidental Death Of An Accordionist, The

Synopsis:
A rebel accordionist, Sinistra Loca, is kidnapped and forced to join an Accordion Orchestra. The Orchestra Conductor, Herr Mettick has been instructed by the Sponsors to get everyone to play insipid easy-listening medleys and only on the white notes, yet Sinistra insists on playing dischordantly, to Mettick's chagrin. Tragedy strikes within the orchestra as the soloist Sinistra expires in the penultimate bar, following Mettick's sabotage of the crucial and forbidden accidentals (black notes).

Anorexic Chef, The

Synopsis:
French-Canadian/ Inuit GORDON BLEU realises his dream of opening a restaurant, aided by Oswald, whose underlying agenda is promoting GM foods, and Larda, who wants to eat everything, including the chef. Feelings of displacement and intensive food preparation lead to Gordon's eating disorder, played out in his customer service and minimalist dishes. Will Gordon finally accept he is worthy of being fed?

Desperate Gallery

Synopsis:
Camelia is a young artist is displaying her work in a local art gallery in the hope of achieving her first sale. Two inept art thieves are the only 'customers' and in her desperation for artistic fame she explores various strategies with them. The arrival of snooty art critic Jorgen Tyson interrupts their planning and his disparaging remarks become increasingly annoying - with fatal consequences! However in a witty final twist his presence may help Camelia to achieve her goal after all.

Four Accordionists of the Apocalypse, The

Synopsis:
Frigg, Norse Goddess of Fertility, descends to Earth to address a crisis in human fertility. There she finds her wayward husband Woden, God of Death and Storms, busy with the El Nino effect and global warfare, seducing mortals and exploiting nature. She finds she's no longer worshipped and auditions accordionists for an Apocalypse to regain control. She hires Vita Bellows, for whom the accordion is a revelation; Brunhilde, a retired Valkyrie with amnesia; Candida, a midwife now out of work due to global infertility. The fourth accordionist is Vade Mecum, Vita's accordion come to life, representing all manmade objects in the final showdown. Frigg fears the destructive force of the accordion may mean a 'twilight of the Gods'. Should she take out Apocalypse insurance?

Todd In Venice

Synopsis:
The classic 'Death in Venice' reimagined, with Thomas Mann's innocent Tadzio now the gay boy Todd, rampaging around Venice and getting up to mischief. Agnes, in Venice to collect gaudy masks and glassware, yearns after Todd, but is in the process of transitioning. Michael, in Venice to write a musical, also finds Todd irresistible. Will Agnes lose her chance with Todd by becoming female? Or will she lose him anyway to her friend Michael? On top of all this, the water levels in Venice are rising and threatening to sweep them all away on a tide of emotion.

The character Agnes was played by a female. The character is transitioning from male to female and identifies as female so ideally played by a female.
