DYMPHNA CUSACK (19021981) was born in Wyalong (NSW). She was educated at Sydney University and became a school teacher, later marrying the writer Norman Freehill. Three of her plays Anniversary, Morning Sacrifice and Call Up Your Ghostswon prizes, as did her co-authored novel Come in Spinner. Her strong humanist concerns regarding justice, peace and racism are overtly present in her work. Between 1949 and 1972 she lived mainly in Europe.
