Synopsis:
By night they walk, and by day they are still, so as not to be noticed. Tanika is a young woman isolated in the heart of a foreign forest, halfway through a journey which takes her from her home and her childhood to a new world, confusing, frightening and terrifyingly grown-up. Tanika's Journey is a visually stunning and highly imaginative insight into the world of a young Sri Lankan girl who escapes from the aftermath of a bloody war and embarks on a dangerous journey that will push her to the limits. Using magical and visual storytelling, Deafinitely Theatre explores the head and heart of Tanika as she makes this journey against all the odds. Is it dry bread and water or a magnificent feast? Could that be her mother calling or the whispering wind? Deafinitely Theatre invites you into their world of magical reality, from darkness to light and back again, as both Tanika herself and the journey before her unfold in front of the audience's very eyes.
