Frank Dunne is an Irish actor and writer. He has had over 20 of his radio plays broadcast on RTE Radio and many of his radio plays have also been broadcast on BBC Radio 4, one of which, DREaMS OF DUBLIN BaY, won the BBC Giles Cooper award and is published by METHUEN. The play was translated into German and broadcast on WDR Radio, Cologne. Many of his short stories have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4. His children's novel, WEXFORD ROaD, was published by COLLINS. He has had two plays produced at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast and Bristol's leading new writing company, Show of Strength, also produced one of his plays. Arts Council England has funded the publication of his book of poetry, MIRROR IN THE MORNING [2004] and his book of stories DOOLaN'S DaUGHTER aND OTHER STORIES [2006]. Frank trained as a young actor at Dublin's Brendan Smith School of acting and toured with and played in Dublin seasons with anew Mc Master and the Edwards-MacLiammoir Company. He worked in Belfast with the Ulster Theatre Company. He came to England to play the lead in James Joyce's play EXILES opposite Elizabeth Seal. He worked in repertory seasons in Nottingham, Newcastle on Tyne, Lincoln and Belfast. He played in PHILaDELPHIa HERE I COME by Brian Friel at London's Wyndham's Theatre. He was also in Friel's aRISTOCRaTS at the Chichester Festival Theatre and he played in THE PLaYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD at the Bristol Old Vic. Recently he was in WaKING THE DEaD [BBC TV] and in the film THREE aND OUT. Recently he has been filming in HOLY WaTER. He played in the ali G film aLI G IN Da HOUSE. Other credits: THE BILL, WIRE IN THE BLOOD, London'S BURNING, HaRBOUR LIGHTS, PERFECT SCOUNDRELS, LOCK STOCK etc. Frank recently read his own story GOING TO IRELaND on BBC Radio Four. He has recently returned from Budapest, where he was filming in "Bel ami". He has also recently been filming in the Isle of Man for BBC TV on THE SHaDOW LINE. He has been filming in the new adaptation of GREaT EXPECTaTIONS, directed by Mike Newell.
