        Custodians, The

Custodians, The

Synopsis:
Within the settings of police station, Mission, hotel and the bush, this tragedy unfolds revealing personal and cultural conflict and their impact upon people under duress

Notes:
Pauline McKelvey writes: I worked with Eric on his adaptation of "the Custodians" for radio. He was a meticulous writer and had unjustified doubts about his work. After completing draft No. 6 of the "the Custodians" I was forced to insist that he call the play finished and submit it to the ABC. It was well-recieved when it was broadcast. "the CUSTODIANS" was written for the stage for the Australian Bicentenary (Bicentenary of Australian settlement, 1988). It was adapted for radio in 1991 and won a runner-up prize in the Ian Reed Awards. It was subsequently published by Currency Press and has been adapted for screen.
