Lauren is a multidisciplinary artist based in New York. She has developed and written work with Primary Stages/ESPA, Flux Theatre Ensemble, At Hand Theatre, WET Productions, On the Square Productions and Guerrilla Girls on Tour. Her play Somewhere Safer was shortlisted for the Old Vic New Voices 2012 Playwrights Exchange and the inaugural recipient of Square One Development (On the Square Productions). Blood Quantum, a play about the American West, is currently in development, and she recently had work commissioned by Spark and Echo Arts. Screenwriting: Sic Transit Gloria Mundi (Hero Status Films/Vigilante HD), currently in post production, and feature-length 3S. Her short play jericho, jericho is published on Indie Theater Now as part of the Flux Human 2.0 anthology. Another of her shorts, The Feminist Assassin was part of the Guerrilla Girls On Tour 2012 We Are Theatre event at the Cherry Lane. She studies playwriting at Primary Stages/ESPA, where she has been mentored by Winter Miller, Julian Sheppard, Sheri Wilner, and Michelle Bossy.

Synopsis:
ForePlay is Flux Theatre Ensemble's annual exploratory staged reading series where playwrights riff on the themes of Flux's main production. Human 2.0 riffed on August Schulenburg's play about the next step in human evolution, DEINDE. Over three nights, Flux presented short plays by 14 playwrights imagining what various human senses will look like in the future. What if we had the capacity to smell like a dog? Use radar like a bat? See all the colors of the electromagnetic spectrum? How will we upgrade our sense of beauty and justice? What will happen when we truly have unlimited memory? All of these short plays explore what it means to be human in an era of rapid technological change.
