Figs in Wigs are Rachel Gammon, Suzanna Hurst, Sarah Moore, Rachel Porter and Alice Roots. Figs in Wigs are an all female, five strong performance company who make work that is a unique mix of theatre, dance and comedy. We use puns, fake fruit, and pop culture references to create shows that are refreshingly surreal, absurdly comic and always aware of their own theatricality. As untrained dancers our routines are distinctly unusual yet surprisingly catchy. Beneath the deadpan monobrows we seek to address big issues one sequin at a time, and although we might not change the world with glitter well have fun trying. Imagine Kraftwerk meets Chicks on Speed at a fruit stall. . .and you're nowhere close.

Dance Peas

Synopsis:
Dance Peas is half dance piece and half world record attempt. Figs in Wigs each attempt to break the world record for eating the most peas with a cocktail stick in three minutes. The choreography becomes the physical and visual stopwatch for the three minute pea-eating competition. The current record of 211 was set by performance artist Mat Hand in 2001.
