George Freek received his Ba in History at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and his Ma in English at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. His plays have been produced by the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, the Changing Scene in Denver, the Organic Theater in Chicago, and various other college and amateur Theaters. He has received grants from the Illinois Arts Council and the National endowment for the Arts -- the latter for a Residency at the New American Theater in Rockford, Illinois -- and has also enjoyed residencies at Southern Methodist University and Southern Illinois University.

Reverse Hamlet

Synopsis:
In this Shakespearian parody the Danish Prince returns from school in Wittenberg for the funeral of his father, killed in a fair fight by Fortinbras, the Norwegian King. But Hamlet has devised a plot wherein with the help of former school friend Horatia, he hopes to attain the Danish throne. Things begin to unravel, however, as his desire for Ophelia is thwarted and, he's challenged to a duel by her fiance Laertes, also the country's leading swordsman.

Stranger In Stanley's Room, The

Synopsis:
In this parody of Tennesee Williams' a Streetcar Named Desire when StElla discovers her sister Blanche has lost the family farm, she invites Blanche to live with her and poet husband Stanley. However Blanches abrasive, paranoid personality soon grates on the gentle, mild-mannered Stanley. then when Stanley becomes suspicious of the 'loss' of the farm and Blanches begins dating Stanley's best friend Twitch, and StElla is suddenly rushed to the hospital for a premature birth, it takes forbearance and understanding to resolve the situation with good will and good humour.
