Nandita Ghose is a poet, playwright and artist. She has written plays for stage, radio and TV, including the acclaimed Bhangra Girls which made television history as the first TV drama in the UK to feature a female Asian cast. Her BBC radio series Oxford Road won a Sony in 2005. Her poetry has been published in magazines including Magma, the Wolf, and X-Press. She won The Edinburgh Fringe Festival Award for funniest poem for her poem, "This Nose" and was short-listed in 2008 for the Bridport Prize with her poem "Strange Fruit". She has performed in numerous venues in London including the Poetry Café, Angel Poetry, and the Arcola Theatre. Her most recent reading was a New Audiences event for Poet in the City. Her performance, "Mrs Whippy Serves it Up" which combines poetry, surreal sculptural costumes, and real ice cream was premiered in 2008. She has run poetry and drama workshops for children and adults. Nandita combines humour, wit, rhythm and musicality to make hard hitting observations about society today. She also explores her dual heritage of being Indian and English in her poetry.
