Laurel Haines is the author of Future Anxiety and The Dianalogues, among other plays. Her play Body Farm is soon to be published in The Best Ten-Minute Plays 2012, Smith and Kraus. Future Anxiety, a dystopian comedy, was produced in 2011 by the Flea Theater, directed by Jim Simpson, after being developed at the Lark Playwrights Week 2009. The Dianalogues, her play about the publics obsession with Princess Diana,has been produced in the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, and South Africa, and is published in Women Playwrights: The Best Plays of 2003 (Smith and Kraus) and Best Womens Monologues for the Millennium (2010, Applause Books). She is a member of the BMI Librettists Workshop and has co-authored book and lyrics for musicals including Stones of Wisdom, a puppet musical for young people commissioned by First Stage Childrens Theater in Milwaukee, WI, and Beach Wars, presented at the Stages Festival 2006 in Chicago. Other plays include Gun in the Funnies (staged reading in Kitchen Dog Theatres New Works Festival 2009), Raw Footage (Semi-Finalist, Eugene ONeill National Playwrights Conference 2000), and Potatoes (Best Production, Collaboraction Sketchbook 2004). Laurel has a BA in Anthropology from Brown University and an MFA in Creative Writing from ASU, where she studied with Guillermo Reyes. She lives in New York City.
