Miss Julie

Synopsis:
A striking, sensual and timeless adaptation of Strindberg's masterpiece. - Young socialite Miss Julie struggles to find her place and sense of purpose in life. After breaking up with her latest fiance, she amuses herself by attending the servants' ball on Midsummer's Eve and takes a particular liking to handsome butler John, himself engaged to the cook Christine. They soon get into a series of dangerous mind games as things quickly spiral out of control. Originally written in 1888, the play caused a scandal when first produced and has been hugely popular ever since. This sensual adaptation emphasises Strindberg's viscerally honest portrait of the class system and human sexuality. Amidst the midsummer frolics, the boundaries of status start to blur and the battle of the sexes intensifies. Who truly has the upper hand and how far will people go in the ultimate power struggle?

Proposal, The

Synopsis:
Well, in Russia 2114 Ivana has come to propose marriage to Stepan's daughter Natalya. However, she only gets into a succession of pointless arguments with Natalya, involving boundary disputes and dogs. Stepan's contributions to the flow of events are no help to the situation either; nor is Ivana's hypochondria. . . But at least all of this is happening in Russia; a beacon of equality; where a woman is proposing to another woman! - In response to the legislations allowing same-sex marriage in the UK and alongside the widely discussed discrimination of LGBT people in Russia, Goblin Baby Theatre Co. gave Anton Chekhov's one-act-classic 'the Proposal' a new twist by turning it into a futuristic farce about marriage equality.
