Marisa D. Hebert Is an Actor/Director veteran of the Colorado Springs, CO Theatre community. Marisa studied Theatre and African American Studies at UNC in Greeley, CO, leaving school early to dive head first into local community theatre. Marisa spent her early theater years being mentored by and working with Toni Babin, founder of the Colorado Spring Gay and Lesbian Theater Festival, the first and only of its kind in the state. It is only recently that Marisa turned to writing as a way to bring people of diversity to the stage. Her intent is to create roles of substance for actors of color, and actors in the GLBTQ community. Pieces of Him, Marisa's first play won the 2013 Rough Writers New Play Festival and will receive a full production in April 2014 at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. Marisa is currently working on her second play, the story of two African American women on death row in Ohio. This work follows these women's 15 year friendship and shows how in the most inhumane conditions they manage to change the end of each other's lives.
