Born in Wilmington, NC. educated at Mary Baldwin College, B.A.; University of North Caro-lina, M.A., Dramatic art. She has written four books for juveniles published byJulian Messner, including two books of children's plays, and Celebrate America: a Baker's Dozen of Plays, and Walk Together: Five Plays on Human Rights. One of these plays, Look Behind the Mask, was produced by children on TV in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She is also author of the correspon-dence course in playwriting now in use at UNC (recently revised with Mary Patterson) and has taught creative writing there and in many work-shops. Recipient: First Prize in two national competitions for Lo, the angel, University of Wisconsin and Dramatists alliance and for Hot Pink Blues which won the annual contest of the Black River Playhouse, Chester, NJ and was produced there.

Synopsis:
a gentle, fearful wife, is sent on trips by her bored husband. But travel has opened up her life, shown her wants of her own, capacity for change, hidden strengths. She finds a lover in Greece. She learns that she can save or destroy her husband, whose career is in jeopardy. In deciding the course of her life, she becomes a challenging and interesting woman.

Synopsis:
a psychological comedy that studies the human foibles of the human potential move-ment, with compassion for the characters involved. Thatcher, a middle-aged medievalist who fur-tively enjoys sex but cannot love, meets Celeste, a thirty-eight-year-old virgin who is determined to achieve awareness, at a weekend personal growth workshop. the play is about their conflicts and pursuit of the elusive love goal, along with six other people striving for personal growth.

Hot Pink Blues

Synopsis:
Verna Claiborne, her husband aspen, and her cousin Jessamine, have fled New York because aspen has embezzled their money in his brokerage firm. they escape to a luxurious tropical beach hotel where the unreal atmosphere highlights the hollowness of their lives and the suffering beneath comic facades. Verna longs for love and freedom, meets a man who might be a potential lover/rescuer; he turns out to be a private eye. Impending death from a hurricane startles Verna into awareness, but leaves the others unmoved.
