Synopsis:
Inspired by the popular American standard of the same name, In the Big Rock Candy Mountain invites us into the world of a hedge fund manager and his wife as they ride the rails in search of jobs. Cushioned from any real hardship by their wealth, they lament their fate while trying to avoid the licorice handcuffs of the ineffectual SeC. In the Big Rock Candy Mountain is a biting musical satire about corporate bailouts and the eschewed realities of the wealthy.

Face Of Beauty, The

Synopsis:
Helen is the most beautiful woman on earth. everybody knows this to be true. But will that be enough to keep her alive? Set on the last day of the Trojan War, the Face of Beauty follows Helen as she slides between the present and memory, reality and imagination, trying to navigate the personal politics of how to survive in a nation at war. Fusing the contemporary with the ancient, the play draws on elements of Greek tragedy, dance, and visual art in its examination of how we are all shaped by the relationship between beauty and violence.

This is part of Ice Factory 2011. Fears of economic collapse. Militia leaders living in storm-ravaged wastelands. Infiltrated utopias. augmented reality games. This appropriated mash-up of pre/post apocalyptic genres wonders aloud: Why does "end-of-days" paranoia permeate our culture, and what makes the idea of armageddon so damn attractive? Deconstructed fear and fanaticism leads to an appropriately apocalyptic denouncement. (Or not.)
