Synopsis:
Is there something lacking in Mavis, our modern day millennium heroine? Are self-help books, macrobiotic diets and Pilates classes really the answers to combating the angst of 21st century living? Meet Mavis Brown, a polite, demure, self-disciplined woman who is living evidence that this is not the case. Ready for change, and with the help of a well-intentioned therapist, Mavis' quest to discover her place in the world is a baptism of fire. As she tries to liberate herself, Mavis becomes erotically entangled with inanimate objects, gets horrifically lost on a stand-up comedy stage, finds herself making up her own lyrics to the Beach Boys at job interviews, and performing a wild and energetic striptease to 'Jungle Boogie'. Mavis Brown may not be stuck in a rut anymore, but her attempts to liberate herself are humiliating and unenviable.
