James Gordon King is a Vancouver based writer. As well as being a regular contributor to BrokenPencil (Toronto) and Plank Magazine (Vancouver), James recently had his first set of poems published in Sterling Magazine (Toronto). James holds a B.F.A from Ryerson University in Theatre Performance Studies. His first full length play, The Living Situation, is making its world premiere in January 2016.

Seabird Is In A Happy Place

Synopsis:
Seabird is in a Happy Place is the fast-paced, energetic testimony of Seabird, a young woman who purports to have died and come back to life under the condition that she die once again as soon as the rain stops. Seabird explains how her resurrection coincided with an accidental encounter  a sudden romance that complicated her inevitable return to the state of being dead  and how, as the rain continued, she found herself with more to lose than she would have thought possible.

Notes:
The Samuel French staff would like to congratulate the 30 playwrights selected to participate in the 40th Annual Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival! Chosen from nearly fifteen-hundred submissions (a record breaking number) both in the U.S. and abroad, these 30 plays will be presented in New York from August 3  9, 2015. Out of these plays, six winners will be selected by the Samuel French, Inc. editorial staff to receive publication and licensing contracts.
