Bollywood Cinderella

Synopsis:
This Christmas, Hardeep Singh Kohli cooks up his own inimitable brand of fun for all the family in Tara Arts' production of Bollywood CinderElla - the much loved Christmas classic, now spiced up with Indian colours, smells and sounds! SurinderElla is forced to slave night and day amking chappals (slippers) forher "auntiji" and her stepsisters Happy and Luckky. With only her Singing Veggies for company. Little does she know her luck is about to change...a neighbouring Prince, desperate to find a "true heart" to wed, proclaims a grand Bollywood-style Ball to find the finest chappal-wearer. auntiji and her daughters are naturally determined SurinderElla comes nowhere near the Ball - it is enough for her to make them the finest chappals. How will the Prince find his true love? and SurinderElla escape her fate?

The Portrait Gallery will take centre-stage this spring as the National Theatre of Scotland explores their collection through the written word and performance in Dear Scotland. In this unique work, twenty of the country's leading writers will pen short, sharp monologues inspired by the Gallery's celebrated portraits which will be performed as a promenade theatre piece, staged within the galleries.

Kanjoos - the Miser

Synopsis:
Molieres classic comedy Kanjoos (Hindi for miser) is transported from 17thC France to modern India. In the money-mad maelstrom of modern Mumbai lurks Harjinder makhi choos ("flea-sucking miser"). A man obsessed with hoarding his wealth according to Gandhian principles of relentless self-sacrifice. He hates spending money, whether on his household or his children, who are desperate for marriage and the fashionable Bolly life-style of Mumbai. This new version of Moliere's classic farce is a comedy for our times.
