Originally from Michigan, Carol lived and worked in Toronto, Canada for 20 years before moving to New York. She has written 3 one-woman shows: THAT DOROTHY PARKER, THE CAMINO: WALKING THE PILGRIM ROAD and AFTER ANNE FRANK. THAT DOROTHY PARKER won the Best Solo Drama award at the San Francisco Fringe in 2000, 'Best of the Fest' at Fringenyc in 2009 and was nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award. Carol was sited as 'Outstanding Performer of the year' by Now Magazine (Toronto) for her work in THE CAMINO and AFTER ANNE FRANK was selected as one of the top 7 shows (out of 200) in 2011 by Time Out New York. The show was held over as part of the 2011 FringeNYC Encore Series and now has been invited to be part of the 2011 United Solo collection. Carol holds an MFA from York University. Her dramaturgical work includes several solo shows: THE SEXY DANCE, by Joanne O'Sullivan. LOOK AT MY WHIMSY by Laura McGee, and THE BURNING BUSH by Tracey Erin Smith. She began writing with COMEDY ON WRY Toronto's premiere comedy troupe in the 1990's. As an actress Carol's New York Theatre credits include: SHLOMO dir, David Schechter, AND SOMEWHERE MEN ARE LAUGHING dir, Bill Russell, A TIME RIPE AND RARE for the Sam French Off-Off-Broadway Playwriting Festival at Playwrights Horizons. She has twice starred in CROSSING DELANCEY with Sylvia Kauders from the original Broadway production, as Lusia in A SHAYNA MAIDEL, and of course as Anne, Margot and then Edith Frank in three separate productions of THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK. She is married to the comedian Scotty Watson, laughs a lot and lives in Secaucus New Jersey.

March. 1973. Dear diary, I borrowed The Diary of Anne Frank from the library today, but I cant bring myself to open it. And so begins 32 years of Carol Lempert ducking Annes legacy, but something keeps pulling her back. Again and again and again.

Synopsis:
That Dorothy Parker is a one woman biographical Drama written and performed by Carol Lempert about the life and work of the famous writer Dorothy Parker. a memory play, That Dorothy Parker weaves together hilarious anecdotes of the 10 years she spent lunching at New York's famed algonquin Round Table, her relationship with Hemingway and scores of other men, her involvement in the Spanish Civil war and selections of her writing. the story takes place on January 24, 1943 the day after the death of her dear friend alexander Woollcott. Dorothy comes to the lobby of the algonquin Hotel to mourn his passing, and in doing so she encounters a group of fans (the audience) and begins to reminisce about her life.
