Wayne Macauley studied at the Victorian College of the Arts School of Drama in 1979-80. He wrote and performed A Hunger Artist (adapted from the Kafka short story) at La Mama, Anthill and Belvoir Street, co-wrote and directed the theatre/cabaret shows Tick Where Applicable, The Last Resort and Slave Clowns Of The Third Reich (at Last Laugh, Anthill and Adelaide Festival Fringe) and directed his own play The Colony at the Athenaeum 2. He wrote and associate-directed 87.8 Gravel Pit Opera for the 2001 Festival Of The Southern Ocean in Mallacoota and wrote the Melbourne Workers' Theatre production of Tower Of Light, performed at the 1999 Melbourne Festival and winner of a 1999 Victorian Green Room Award for Innovation/New form. He recently wrote the highly successful site-specific work, The Teratology Project, created by the Institute of Complex Entertainment. Wayne is also a widely published short story writer with stories in Meanjin, Overland, Westerly and others, was the winner of the 1995 Age Short Story com
