Vee Malnar has worked as an actor, singer, and drama teacher. She has won various awards for her short plays in Crash Test, some of which have found a place in Short and Sweet Sydney including Aerobic Blues, I Count Therefore I Am, and her latest Venus in the Shower (2012). Her writing also includes songs, poetry, short stories and film scripts. She has a Bachelor of Creative Arts from Wollongong University and has produced four CDs of original music whilst working with various bands such as The Strumettes and Ana Key - produced by Davis J Sparx. Her songs have been played on community radio as well as commercial stations in Australia and overseas. Rock Chicks is her first stage musical, first performed in 2000 for the Sydney Fringe Festival and later at Tap Gallery in 2005. Rock Chicks became a TV sitcom pilot in 2008 (Rock Chikz), first aired on TVS Adelaide and later on cable TV New York, hosted by Nancy Lombardo. Vee is currently co-writing a full-length play for Abhinay Performing Arts School.

Rock Chicks

Synopsis:
Rock Chicks is about four 'naturally-shaped females' trying to make it in music. The story is told through the eyes of the stay-at-home husband, whose wife leaves him with the baby and embarks on a tour of New South Wales with an under-rehearsed band. Playing for nothing, with no audience, and songs like 'I Don't Need a Man', the band are driven from town to town and down the drain, by their sex-obsessed, ex-porn star manager. Their biggest setback comes when 'hubbie' arrives to take his estranged, keyboard playing wife home, and almost destroys the band.
