Marisa Marquez is an actor/writer from Sacramento, California currently residing in New York City. Her last play GATED was nominated for 5 Midtown International Theater Festival awards and for her play SAMPAQUITA she was named one of the 100 Most Influential Filipinas in the United States. As an actor she originated the role of Fuegia in Emmy Award winning writer Luis Santiero's LAND O'FIRE and played Fuegia in the Alaskan premiere of FLIPZOIDS. She is a proud member of the Leviathan Lab's Asian American Women's Writing Group. Marquez graduated with a double major in Theater and Political Science from Fairfield University.

Synopsis:
the following description is from the show's press release: "This humorous Drama dives into the story of New York comedian Joshua Timms. This self-loathing man-child is left devastated by the loss of his wife. Despite the debilitating effects of her severe Lupus, she was the strong one-his caretaker. In her absence, grief sets his life into a couch-ridden waste until an unexpected gift arrives from his mother-in-law, a fiancee fresh from the Philippines." Rice Flower, a WWII, novel is green-lit to be the next blockbuster but these anti-exotic-blossoms face exploitation, objectification, and sexism. Two gregarious gals navigate a not-so-silk road playing 24 characters including Rush Limbaugh, Jim Kramer and Al Pacino. This aint no Oriental express, because we aint no carpet!
