I'm a London-based theatre-maker working across multiple disciplines: writing, collaborative performance, directing and live art. I'm interested in collisions and co-operations between audience and performer, in creating unforgettable imagery (visual or otherwise), and in celebrating endeavour. My performance work engages with presence and language, and is beginning to take the shape of a series of stories, told in a simple, direct manner, often accompanied by live music. They frequently combine bleak humour, visceral detail and cinematic scope, and are concerned with ideas of nostalgia, transgression, and genre. They aim always at the limits of imagination. I have shown work at Battersea Arts Centre, Cambridge Junction, New Wolsey Studio, Camden People's Theatre, Riverside Studios, Forest Fringe, Exeter Phoenix, Stoke Newington International Airport, and the Roundhouse Studio. I have directed plays at Southwark Playhouse and Ovalhouse. In 2011 I was a finalist for the James Menzies-Kitchen Award for young directors, for my production of Ugo Betti's The Queen and the Rebels. I work as a youth practitioner and workshop leader, mainly in schools, arts centres and theatres.

        Human Basic         Professional Supervision

Human Basic

Synopsis:
Human Basic is the second in a proposed trilogy of solo story-shows investigating personal identity through the lens of speculative fiction. It will chart, through a number of disparate stories and texts, the birth, growth, and speculated future of the electable, performative online self. It will ask questions about identity, intimacy, and communication. Informed and excited by trans theory and the shifting pluralism of internet culture, it will worry about the future of the individual, and whether there is, like, a 'soul.' Funny, heartfelt, and impossibly weird, Human Basic is a show for anyone who's ever thought that, deep down, they might be an elf. Or a squid. Or a bit of nylon.

Notes:
Human Basic received its first showing in September 2014 as part of CPT's 20:20 Vision, for which it was seed-commissioned.

Professional Supervision

Synopsis:
When I turned thirteen I became a completely different person. . .Not in the way you might think. A time-travelling coming-of-age spoken word murder mystery starring Johnny Knoxville from Jackass. With songs. Bursting with bizarre characters and accompanied by the gnarliest of guitar, Professional Supervision is an offbeat hour of surreal indie storytelling, a pulpy poem to teenage truths and misspent youth.

Notes:
musical accompaniment from Luke Novak on electric guitar.
