Ruth McKee. Recent plays include: Stray,winner of the 2008 Stanley Drama Award, readings at the Black Dahlia Theatre (Los Angeles) and Ensemble Studio Theatre (New York); the Nightshade Family, produced in the 2007 Summer Play Festival (New York) and a runner-up for the Kendeda Graduate Playwriting Contest, Alliance Theatre (Atlanta); Security Check,produced in the Six Figures Theatre Company Artists of Tomorrow Festival 2006; 500 Words, produced in the 2005 Baldwin New Play Festival at the University of California, San Diego; Cargo, produced in BNPF 2004; Mail Returned, produced at UCSD and by Six Figures; the Noise Room, developed at HB Playwrights Foundation. Originally from Canada, by way of Bangladesh and Kenya, Ms. McKee has a BFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU, an MFA in playwriting from UCSD, and currently lives in Los Angeles.

Synopsis:
Three New York City immigrant teenagers take an internship organizing submissions for an essay contest on patriotism in America. Disgusted by the phoniness of the entries, they form a bet to see if they can win the contest with honest responses to the topic. As they reveal their stories, their own senses of patriotism and the world are challenged in unexpected ways.

Long Term Parking

Synopsis:
John and Abbey work at a lonely airport parking lot in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, confined together to a tiny booth. After a rough start, John develops a crush on Abbey, who is recovering from a sexual assault and is less than interested in John's advances.
