Mario El Caponi Mendoza is a freelance stage director, playwright, educator, producer, multimedia artist, dramaturg and devisor of new works. His work has been seen at Arizona State University, Phoenix Theatre, San Francisco State University, Humboldt State University, Colorado State University, Stanford University, CounterPULSE, 99 Stock Productions, The School of Theatre of Cruelty, SFSU Fringe, Alwun House, Teatro Bravo, Magellan Productions, Tour Bus and the University of Iowa. He has served as Resident Artist for Tumbleweed: Youth Center for Development with a focus in community based theatre, The San Francisco Arts Education Projection with a focus in devised performance and The Mesa Arts Center with a focus in creative drama. He holds a Creative Writing MFA in playwriting from San Francisco State University and a Theatre MFA in directing from the University of Iowa.

Designer, The

Synopsis:
The Designer: A Brechtian Techno Drama (Second Installment of the Transmitter Trilogy) is a devised multimedia theatre performance written and directed by Mario El Caponi Mendoza and co-created with the designs of Ray Ockenfels and Melissa L. Gilbert. Inspired by the story of Peter Pan, a new world consisting only of children and teenagers is left with the task of rebuilding society years after the deadly effects of a global virus. The play looks at how neoliberalism impacts the world, further investigating how systems are specifically designed to privilege certain social groups all while exploiting others for the purpose of profits and power.

Jump: A Love Story

Synopsis:
Jump: A Love Story is an expressionist multimedia theatre examination on the Golden Gate Bridge as a suicide destination. Inspired by Shakespeare's tragic heroines, Ophelia, Juliet and Cleopatra as a reincarnated triad of seagulls, the poetic text follows one anonymous man's stream of consciousness through various themes of conception, technology, madness, lust, alienation, love and suicide.

Penny Dreadful Project, The

Synopsis:
The Penny Dreadful Project is a dark and harrowing tale that closely examines the relationship between an unnamed woman and three versions of her son. The cautionary fable takes the audience into an expressionist netherworld of poetic text and madness. Inspired by the lives of women such as Andrea Yates and Susan Eubanks. The Penny Dreadful Project explores the tragedy and state of mind of a mother on the verge of murder.
