Aelish has been a playwright since completing her post-graduate diploma in writing for performance at Arden School of Theatre three years ago. As well as plays for young people, including Gemima Diamond for M6 Youth Theatre, she has written a number of plays for adults. Flying Solo won a one-act play competition run by the Ashton group in Barrow-In-Furness last year and her full length play, Children of the Moors, will be touring in the North West in Autumn 2007. Results Day was written to highlight the huge responsibilities that some young people have to bear, and also as a result of talking to a group of young carers. Aelish is currently working on a stage play that explores the issues of stolen identity and has a number of radio plays in development, including one based on the boyhood of the late poet laureate, Ted Hughes

Demolition Man, The

Synopsis:
Based on the life of Fred Dibnah. Many women have to deal with their husband's hair-brained schemes. And when Sheila comes home to find her husband has decided to build a 70ft mineshaft in the back garden, she somehow isn't suprised. But if you were married to Fred Dibnah, one of Bolton's best-loved sons, you wouldn't be either. After appearing on television repairing Bolton town hall clock in 1978, Fred went from eccentric, engineer and steeplejack to local hero, celebrated broadcaster and national institution. But when he is diagnosed with cancer, it threatens to demolish his personal and professional life as easily as he had toppled chimneys throughout his illustrious career. Despite his tragic deterioration, he determines to forge ahead with his project to get his beloved steam engine on the road. And along the way, Fred's relationship with Sheila is put to the test. Aelish Michael's funny and tender new play, researched in collaboration with Fred's wife and some of his closest friends, focuses on the last few years of his eventful life.
