Biography of Owa

Owa was a C.E.T.A. Community Projects Artist with Theater for the Forgotten (TFTF). He was also a member of Joseph Papp's, NY Public Theater Playwrights Workshop directed by Ed Bullins, James Baldwin Theater Workshop directed by Dr. Henry Miller, the Negro Ensemble, NEC Playwrights Unit directed by Steve Carter and the Frank Silvera Writers Workshop (FSWW) directed by Garland Lee Thompson; as well as Writers Guild (East) workshops with Paddy Chayefsky. His play Bloodrite was a selection at the Eugene ONeil National Playwrights Conference. He was the FSWW first Rockefeller Writer-in-Resident. Owa's play, A Short Piece for a Naked Tale won first prize in the Theater for the Open Eye: Short Play Festival. Owa is a featured writer in Center Stage: an anthology of New Black Playwrights, published by University of Illinois Press . He also has collected works in the New York Public Librarys Schomburg Center for Black Research in Harlem . He is currently a member of Times Square Playwrights Workshop, (TSP) and Workshop Theater Company Owa studied Playwrighting with James Farrell and received his certificate in Playwrighting at Fairleigh Dickinson University . He has a Master Human Services degree from Lincoln University and a Ph.D. in Transpersonal psychology from Westbrook University.
