Bryan has travelled widely in Eastern Europe, the Balkans and the Pacific as an aid donor and an international election observer for the European Union. He is also a frequent visitor to the United States and Canada where he is currently researching religious fundamentalism for a forthcoming book. In Scotland he has been involved in social issues including assisting asylum seekers from Albania and protesting against dawn raids by the UK Immigration Service. More locally, he has served on East Dunbartonshire's County Education and Cultural Services Committee, a residents' association and on two school boards. Previous publications include the Evil Eye of Gondôr, a play for children, 'Albania - Land of Eagles', a pamphlet guide for volunteers, and 'Praying on the Edge', ten studies in social issues for home groups. His first collection of poetry 'Blue daffodils and other poems' was published in April 2007 and his next collection 'Kokopelli's dance: the American connection' is due out in 2008. He has written two screenplays - one about asylum seekers and the other a whodunnit.

Evil Eye Of Gondor, The

Synopsis:
A long time ago there was a beautiful valley. It was green and pleasant and home to lots of nice people who lived in villages like Little Brumley, which was near the forest, and Upper Lonsdale, which was up in the Northern reaches. Unfortunately, other people lived in the Valley and they weren't very nice at all. they were the Guardians of the Eye of Gondôr and for many years the people had lived in the shadow of its evil power. One Harvest-time, when Roth was the most wicked Guardian of all, a Stranger arrived, just as it had been written a long time before. This is the story of what happened then. . . and still happens now. . . in little valleys all over the world. . .

Notes:
This play was first written for A boys' school. However, Almost All the parts can Also be played by girls And the play works easily well with A mixed cast. the production uses lighting effects And the cast Also need to learn some village dancing! Best of All, if the Auditorium can be turned into the Village then the characters can welcome the Audience to the show And Also serve the refreshments during the interval - A great exercise in extemporary Drama.
