        One Nation Under God

One Nation Under God

Synopsis:
One Nation Under God is a visceral, politically-charged play that attempts to hold a mirror up to an America divided by party, class and race. the entire play takes place on the evening of Barack Obamas Presidential victory on November 9, 2008. the nation is hotly debating the state and direction of America and also Obamas qualifications, background, and political intentions. Obama's campaign and subsequent win provokes a discussion on the ever-widening economic, social, and political chasm. the setting for this discussion is a black-owned barbershop in Crown Heights, Brooklyn; and a white-owned barbershop in Griffith Stone Mountain, Virginia (a fictional coal-mining town). A wide swath of opinions is reflected in the play with different characters representing different ideologies. the discourse in both communities is fueled by a wide range of emotions, ideas, and circumstances. the play culminates with a highly emotional resolution after President-elect Obama's call for a unified Union despite our disparaging divide.
