PRECIOUS CARGO THEATRE

In June 2010, over cups of tea and Marmite on toast, a bunch of theatre practitioners talked about wild swimming, the kind of theatre they wanted to see more of and they talked about doing things that scared them. Six months later Precious Cargo had been born. Jonluke McKie is artistic director of Precious Cargo and works with producer Becci Sharrock, head of participation Toni Mc Elhatton and coordinators of happenings and events Jayne Humphreys and Rachael Glover, all of whom work together on the devising and development of our work. What we do... We make theatre, for venues as well as more unusual spaces. We devise, work with writers and collaborate with all sorts of artists. We have a distinctive style; a mix of intelligent, contemporary theatre that is accessible to theatre-types and new audiences alike. We run participatory projects that have impact and we create events that engage artists and new audiences.
