Brush With Fate, A

Synopsis:
Tonight, commercially successful but critically un-acclaimed artist, Steven Breckenridge, will unveil his masterwork, the one even the critics will love. Only problem is, he's in a coma. So begins A Brush With Fate which the LA Reader called "a very entertaining look at the funny side of the dark side". As an out-of-body bystander, Steven is privy to the motivations and machinations of his cut-throat agent, gay performance artist buddy, angular mistress, beautiful wife and stodgy art critic. Frustrated and hurt that in the midst of his impending death, he is the only one crying, Steven tries to ruin their fun. Faulty electrical wires and each other are blamed for the supernatural disturbances. Act One culminates in the unveiling of a bizarrely positioned, abstract nude.

Ellen takes pity on the seemingly pathetic Bob and even offers to help him when she discovers from another female patient that Bob's problems are all a ruse. Apparently this is how he meets women. Bob swears that this is different and that he's been in love with Ellen from afar and has arranged this accidental meeting. Turns out Bob is not a patient, but a sperm donor and the specious specimen Ellen is waiting for might wind up being his. Upon further inspection, Bob seems to have all the right stuff, but with an IQ as high as his sperm count, can he be believed?
