Laura Rohrman is a playwright and actress who has written several plays and screenplays since changing the focus of her career from advertising to "Dramatic living" five years ago. Since moving to New York City in 2000, she's had over 20 plays produced at such venues as the Vital Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Source and the Actors Studio Drama School. Her short plays have been chosen as Finalists (Without) 2004 and (Below 14th) 2005 for the Samuel French National Short play festival. In 2005, Laura's full-length play My Life As You was named a Finalist for the Playwrights First Award and another full-length play Reporter Girl was recently nominated for the Weissberger Award by the Directors Company. In 2005, she received her MFA from the Actors Studio Drama School/New School University where she studied both playwriting and acting. As an actor she has appeared in Theatre and films across the country and in Europe. She recently completed shooting an 8-part mini series for the main Russian television channel "NTV" in Moscow, where she said all of her lines in Russian. Laura is a member of the Dramatist Guild, the RCL Writers Group, Vital Theatre's PD Unit, Manhattan Playwrights, 13th Street Repertory, Love Creek Productions Repertory and the founder of the Waverly Writers Collective. Laura works as a part-time literary agent specializing in books and plays; she's also a freelance journalist, Dramaturg and copywriter who has worked for several award-winning publications, including Salon.com in San Francisco. Laura has a Bachelors degree in International Relations and French from UC Davis and spent two years living in France.

Synopsis:
Below 14th is a futuristic sci-fi play set seven years after a catastrophic event has Dramatically "changed" New York City. In this slightly absurd world everything below 14th Street has been cut off by a wall, and the people living within the walls are infected with a mysterious disease. When Babe, a once famous actress and a resident of the shut off area is allowed out, the Drama begins. Not only is her sexy scientist ex-boyfriend offering her a drink, she discovers that her celebrity status is still her biggest problem. A love story with the highest stakes, political overtones and a twist of the bizarre.

Synopsis:
My Life As You is a psychological Drama that touches on the very core of what troubles young people and women today: their minds. Talk about the grass being greener on the other side. When Stella, a young advertising executive breaks up with her boyfriend she decides to quit everything and "rediscover" herself in a new city with her very similar friend Diana. Turns out her friend Diana is a challenge StElla never anticipated. What begins as a friendly competition becomes a psychological duel of epic proportions. the sparks fly as the two women go to great lengths to become what they think will make them happy: each other.

Reporter Girl

Synopsis:
Reporter Girl is the story of Dale Messick, America's first syndicated female cartoonist whose career in cartooning began when she created the famous cartoon strip: Brenda Starr Reporter in 1940. the legendary cartoonist continued to write and draw the comic for the next 40 years and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for cartooning in 1998. the play weaves history and fantasy to create a touching and Dramatic portrait of Ms. Messick's life and how her "creation" Brenda Starr affected not only the women in her life, but women around the world. the play is especially poignant because Dale Messick is the playwright's real grandmother.
