Charly Evon Simpson is a playwright, poet, and founder-director of blackbird delight (www.blackbirddelight.com), an arts organization dedicated to diversity, creativity, wellness, and education. Charly's plays include: or what she will, The Women in Me, In The Beginning, and her not-yet-finished piece, who we let in. Her work has been a part of the New York International Fringe Festival, FringeArts in Philadelphia, and more. Charly graduated with honors in both Theatre Arts and Literary Arts from Brown University. She holds a masters in Womens Studies from University of Oxford, New College. At both Brown and Oxford, Charly spent time studying and interrogating the intersection of race, gender, performance, and literature. Outside of the theater, Charly is a yoga teacher and wellness coach.

Happy Anniversary

Synopsis:
Evan and Jo are celebrating their anniversary at home. As the two wait for their food delivery, a truth is revealed and, within minutes, Evan and Jo are left wondering whether this anniversary should be their last.

The Samuel French staff would like to congratulate the 30 playwrights selected to participate in the 40th Annual Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival! Chosen from nearly fifteen-hundred submissions (a record breaking number) both in the U.S. and abroad, these 30 plays will be presented in New York from August 3  9, 2015. Out of these plays, six winners will be selected by the Samuel French, Inc. editorial staff to receive publication and licensing contracts.
