Francois' Love

Synopsis:
In the not-so-distant future, Francois is possibly the last mechanic who can fix a gas powered automobile. In the ever changing world of technology, he has been left in the dust. He practices his craft on the 15+ year old cars that pull into his rest stop on the side of a lonesome highway. He has nowhere else to go. Cara is a young woman in the artistic game, a dancer. After a damaging experience in the big city trying to make it as an actress, she leaves on the day oil had been taken off the market. the story begins when Cara breaks down at Francois' reststopShe and her Dodge are broken down. Francois descends upon her 20th century car and when he sees Cara, he wants to fix her too. He is her servant to get her to fall in love with him. Cara needs the attention so she flirts with him, while Francois tinkers under the hood. Francois convinces her to show him a dance. As she dances, he plays music inside of the hood. It's is harmony, love even. Cara has a seizure. Francois saves her, and they share a moment of tenderness and honesty. She couldn't make it as a dancer because of her condition. Francois beckons his love to take him with her, and Cara retreats, not ready to take the plunge. Francois loses his mind and Caroline is frightened into her Dodge.Francois smashes the car to smithereens with a tire iron. Francois' Love is about fleeting love, the sense of entitlement of the brilliant, the lack intimacy in the coming world, and the maddening effect of unrequited love.

Galveston

Synopsis:
Galveston takes place on the down-on-her-luck island. In the days proceeding a major hurricane, Maurice Troxclaire, the 73-year-old self-proclaimed "best lover on the island", is distracted by a strange request from his lover, a much younger, married Charlotte Moody. She wants him to drown her and resuscitate her. She has lost her spirit and believes this will revive her if he succeeds, or put an end to the malaise if not. When Maurice can't bring himself to do it, he sees this as a failure to please his lover, indicative of his years catching up to him. He employs the help of his best friend and protege, 15-year-old Dewberry, to get the job done, which he does and more. When Mayor M. Everett Moody catches the young rapscallion in the buff with his wife, he locks him up and holds him over Mo in exchange for his halfway house, the last stitch of land Mr. Moody hasn't bought up. With the force of Mother Nature coming strong, Maurice must decide whether to forgive Dewberry and accept his station at the twilight of his life, or go on deluding himself and watch his friends suffer around him.
