Synopsis:
the play deals with a man's rejection of his Judaism and explores the traumatic effect on his dysfunctional family, - Jewish Telegraph. Stephen Swycher was awarded a distinction for this play in his M.A. (Writing)degree at Sheffield Hallam University. In Friday night we are presented with the dysfunctional Carlton family, at war with itself. Conflicts and politics abound. In the blue corner Eric's rejection of religion and beliefs:in the white corner Sam's dedication to Ultra Orthodox views.When the bell rings both come out fighting with Pa Carlton as referee. Tragic news from Israel creates a confrontation that temporarily reunites. However it is the return to their Jewish roots depicted in a beautiful dream like Sabbath ritual , where the family finally finds solace and the healing process begins. they cannot escape from their Jewish identity. - Jewish Telegraph.

Notes:
It was taken to Leeds And performed At the International Jewish theatre Festival in 2004 where it was highly commended.It was subsequently staged At Nottingham university At the Annual Limud festival.A second Act was Added And Friday night is now Available As A full length play.

Redundant Toy Boy, The

Synopsis:
Multimillionairess Stella, now 73, had installed younger man Raymond as her live-in partner. Twelve years later, ill and unable to carry out his duties, his sacking and subsequent death brings his dysfunctional family to Stella's residence one Sunday morning to clear out his effects. the family implodes when unwelcome revelations include a secret wife (Lynda) being kept by Stella's "expenses allowance". the exposure of Raymond's murky past leads to his daughter Anne's breakdown and his unsuccessful son, Ben, finds his wife's affair with his hostile brother-in-law coming to a head. Confrontation between StElla and Lynda sparks off a relationship, until new disclosures come like a bolt from the blue.
