Gloria Tessler is a writer, journalist and playwright. She has written for British national newspapers including the Daily Telegraph, the Guardian and the Evening Standard and acted as consultANT on Jewish affairs to the Independent on Sunday. Gloria was a news reporter and feature writer for the Jewish Chronicle. Her short stories have appeared in national and international magazines. Gloria is the Arts critic for the AJR Journal. Her biography, Amelie,the Story of Lady Jakobovits was published by Vallentine Mitchell in 1998. Her first play the WINDMILL was produced at the Union Theatre, London in 2004 and her novel DANCING WITH CARMEN will be published in spring 2010. She is currently working on her second novel.

Unveiling Hagar

Synopsis:
Are the challenges facing a Jew and a Palestinian who fall in love insurmountable or can the issues between them be reconciled? Max Goldwater, an ageing Jewish widower falls in love with Layla, a young Palestinian devoted to the liberation of her country. Max carries with him both the burden of his father's memories as an Allied soldier at the liberation of Auschwitz, and the collective memory of persecution. Max and Layla are challenged by their own histories, their own family roles and have to struggle to retain trust, loyalty and identity. Max and Layla play out their personal Drama against the intensity of family life and the wider political conflict of the Middle East.
