Born in Halifax, England in 1948. Won a bursary from BBC Radio North in 1996 in the Alfred Bradley Bursary Award scheme. Went to China in 1999 and stayed, becoming an actor mainly specialising in Chinese TV series, plus occasional small film roles. Has written a book about TV acting in China.

Synopsis:
An estranged middle-aged couple come to China to collect their son and take him home. As the play progresses it becomes apparent that he is dead and it is his remains that they are collecting.

Girl in a Green Hat

Synopsis:
Three women sitting on a park bench, a girl in a green hat comes along and starts rabble-rousing. As the play progresses we realize she is Spring, come to drive away winter and renew the Earth.

This play was written for A women's Acting workshop And later performed by two theatre groups.

Peking Roulette

Synopsis:
An ageing foreign man has a language partnership with a young Chinese woman. She wants a baby but she doesn't want an older husband. He wants to sleep with her but he doesn't want a baby. They come up with an interesting compromise.

Rainbow Carp

Synopsis:
An English girl, recently arrived in China, finds herself sitting at the restaurant table of an older, rather cynical, English man who tries to give her the rundown on life in Beijing.

Notes:
One of the female parts is for A Chinese waitress. In the script some of the dialogue between the waitress And the older man is in Chinese, though it could be done in English At A pinch.
