Bridegroom Of Blowing Rock, The

Bridegroom Of Blowing Rock, The
Set at the end of the Civil War in a town with split loyalties, this play weaves humor and mythology into a story about women who must find ways to keep hearth and home together in the absence of "full bodied" men. Focus is on the fracture that occurs in one family when a blind daughter is seduced by a Union raider with extraordinary storytelling abilities, much to the dismay of her staunchly Confederate mother.

Crooked

Crooked
Coming-of-age Drama with sideways glance at evangelical and Sapphic love. 'I mean, the fact that Jesus chose to turn the water into wine, rather than just decontaminating it, proves that drinking alcohol is not a sin.' Fourteen-year-old Laney arrives in Oxford, Mississippi, an outsider with a twisted back and only her writing to keep her company. When she befriends the hapless born-again Maribel, Laney's penchant for story-telling soon spirals out of control. A hilarious chain of events is set in motion, sparking a spiritual and sexual journey that infuriates her mother and threatens to tear their fragile world apart. A gloriously sideways glance at evangelical and Sapphic love way down south

How the World Began

How the World Began
A Manhattan woman travels to a rural town in Kansas recently devastated by a tornado to take a teaching job in a makeshift high school. But when she makes an off-handed remark regarding the origins of life, she unleashes community outrage and the particular distress of a disturbed young boy. In an intimate and artful inquiry of her characters very souls, Trieschmann invites audiences to consider their own beliefs and their perhaps unspoken opinions of others.

Most Deserving, The

Most Deserving, The
A small town arts council has $20,000 to award to a local artist with an under-represented American voice. Should they choose the teacher/painter of modest talent or the self-taught artist who creates religious figures out of trash? This comedy explores how gossip, politics and opinions of art can decide who is the most deserving. A tart, sharp skewing of small town cultural wars.
