Anytown

Synopsis:
This poignant black comedy, featuring a slew of popular Perth actors, represents a return to award-winning playwright Hellie Turner's absurdist theatre origins. Anytown is a sweet delusion, a constant craving and an open wound oozing with suppressed desires. Anytown is every town. Tinged with addiction, it will touch you where you yearn.

Mesh

Synopsis:
Late May in a northern outback town, the kids are running wild and the patience of at least one member of the community has all but run out. Co-op owner, Mick (third generation of the infamous Morrison family) is totally pissed off at the continuous stream of break-ins and graffiti - not to mention the mindless vandalising of his long-time hero and role model, John Wayne. One night, he coerces a couple of 'born-and-bred' mates, to join him at his shop, in order to lay in wait for the offenders. The moderate Darce has knocked around with Mick since they were kids. He's more than a bit over Mick's particular brand of arrogance. Lammy just does what he's told - same as he always has. Poor intellect hasn't equipped him so well to defend himself against Mick's demands and abuse. Over the course of the night, ignited by booze and bullshit - the tensions of bad ancient history between the would-be vigilantes are fired up. The night is littered with a passing parade of Mick's damaged relationships. Carmel - the sweetest root of his life. Raelene - his haggard and emotionally broken young wife. Ginger - town cop and once close friend. And Jodie - the best kept secret in town. When the gung-ho Mick exacts a little 'eye-for-an-eye' revenge, the rot really sets in and Micky-boy gets a taste of his own not-so-sweet medicine. And then. . .the ultimate act of payback.

Paperbark Shoe, The

Synopsis:
Adapted from the novel by Goldie Goldbloom, Gin, a refined albino woman, marries to escape the confines of an asylum. Toad, a collector of ladies corsetry, marries to prove his manhood. Together they are freaks - feared and ridiculed by the local townspeople. Into their lives come two Italian POWs bringing music, sensuality and a love that will fan the flames of small town bigotry. Sardines

Synopsis:
It is New Year's Eve ...Jason is a teenage offender with too many batteries and a major aversion to confined places. Gloria is thirty-plus and a long-term agoraphobic. She doesn't like people ... especially people who talk too much. And Jason talks way too much. When Jason rolls in through the window of the Gloria's bed-sit, with a mind to committing a little burglary, the night becomes rather interesting for both of them. Throughout the ensuing hours, the space between them gradually changes shape ... from blatant shared mistrust, into a strange-but-tender form of caring. With the morning light of a brand new year, comes hope. Maybe ... if they both try ... they can help each other to heal the scars of the past ... and survive the potential perils of the future. Maybe ...
