Evan Watts graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts Drama School in 1990. He has had a number of plays produced at Gasworks Theatre and La Mama, including Death by Misadventure, Pursuing Passion and Red Megaphone. An adaptation of Red Megaphone commissioned by ABC Radio was workshopped at the 1999 Playwrights' Conference. ABC Radio has also commissioned an original work In Your Dreams.
