Cary Wong received his MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University. He was a Van Lier Playwriting Fellow at Manhattan Theatre Club. His MTC commissioned play, "Mirrors Remembered" was produced at New York Stage and Film. His plays have also had readings at the Public Theater, Queens Theatre in the Park, New Dramatists, Mark Taper Forum, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, East West Players and the Group Theater in Seattle. Cary was part of the first Asian American Playwrights Group at the Public Theater. He is currently a member of the Queens Theatre in the Park's Playwriting Group. Cary is a member of the Dramatist Guild and has won the cartoon caption contest in the New Yorker.

Family of Origin

Synopsis:
FAMILY OF ORIGIN centers around Noah, a young Asian American man, who finds out from his Chinese Father and Jewish mother that his real mother is a woman who used to dance in Chairman Mao's ballet company. Noah leaves on his own to New York to meet this woman who is dying. When he gets there, he discovers his mother's lifelong secret. ACT TWO focuses on Noah's mother and her attempts in her mind, to resolve things before she dies. She enters the world of the ballet she was most famous for, the RED DETACHMENT OF WOMEN.
