Four Days Of Grace         Public Interest

Four Days Of Grace

Synopsis:
theres a laugh of recognition at the start of Drew Ballantynes Four Days of Grace, a one-hander in which a young woman waits for a fridge to be delivered at the New Diorama. Weve all been there, trapped indoors like Grace, wondering if the door-bells stopped working. Familiar, too, is the robotically bright tones of a switchboard operator telling us about our allotted delivery slot and the PR person at our work-place openly sceptical of feigned snuffles at the end of the line.

Public Interest

Synopsis:
In a London hotel on the eve of their appearance at the Baha MoUSA Inquiry, two intelligence officers meet to discuss their presumed fate; pinpointing the role they've played in teaching and implementing interrogation.their conversation is overheard by ellie, the bar manager, whose fierce reaction to their admissions is both brittle and damning. Both men have different reasons to win ellie's trust. To this end they present her with the harsh truths of war and the urgency pressed upon the Intelligence Corps in a seemingly unwinnable war. Presented this June as the Inquiry draws to a close 'Public Interest' combines sharp dialogue, humour and high stakes to unpick the complex belief that torture can be justified. Told through the eyes of those who seek moral clarity in the shadows of those abused in the name of security. the Baha MoUSA Inquiry began July 2009 and is ongoing.
