Auction

Synopsis:
Two acts: CHRIS, a fabulously wealthy art dealer who prizes his art collection above all else, falls in love with his brother's punk Cockney lover, SANDY. She's a prize-winning cellist and thrown out by the brother has nowhere else to go. Hopelessly misjudging each other, always wrong-footing each other, he begins to value her, begins to want her. The brother dies, bringing them closer together but when Sandy ends up in hospital losing the baby she's expecting, CHRIS leaves her a note that he loves her. She never gets it. She leaves - only to be snapped up by a tv chat show. Only then does she admit she loves Chris and she imagines them making love - pictures Chris has been suppressing for a very long time.

Bare stage with only a table, 2 chairs, maybe a coat stand. Bach's music for cello used.

Boudicca

Synopsis:
BOUDICCA must fight not only the invading army after her daughters are horribly raped, she must also take on her own side fighting each other. Meanwhile, the invading force have their own problems of corruption and loneliness. An officer who loved Boudicca's elder daughter is now rebuffed by her. After initial victories, Boudicca's huge force meets the small but disciplined force of the invaders. The daughter's lover comes to warn Boudicca not to fight. When her daughter denies ever loving an enemy officer, Boudicca thinks he's trying to trick her. So she attacks - and Boudicca's people lose everything. The story is told by a Writer who goes over to the enemy after being rejected by Boudicca as being unnecessary.

Synopsis:
Colours - Jane Barry esq. is based on the true story of a woman who lived her life as a man. Jane Barry took the name of her father, the Irish artist James Barry. She qualified as a doctor in 1812, went into the British army and travelled the world, fighting in a duel, having affairs and on one occasion finding herself pregnant.

Just A Tick

Synopsis:
A teenager waits to be interviewed for Further Education. While she waits, she imagines the life of her interviewer and how on earth she'll get into the college. But she's been completely forgotten and, about to set fire to the place, the interviewer phones to apologize. But by then she might well have changed her mind anyway.

Lady Macbeth

Synopsis:
A passionate love story. The characters from Shakespeare - CATRIONA, Lady Macbeth (given a 1st name) seduces her husband's oldest friend, DUFF (Lord Macduff) in a bid to get pregnant. Without a baby, an heir, her husband will never be considered for the throne. But she and the previously happily married man fall in love. With her husband away at war the affair becomes increasingly passionate, the lovers outrageously risking everything. Act 2 opens with the king having been murdered and now CATRIONA needs DUFF to support their new regime. But he absolutely refuses. She threatens him. Her husband will kill her - and his family - if he finds out about the affair. DUFF agrees to leave his family hostage if she promises not to hurt them. She curses him - and he goes. We see on a shadow screen his family being murdered.

SET : Act 1 - large bed, almost bare room. Act 2 - one large chair, bare room. Has been done with both costumes and also in modern dress. Extensive use of music

Not The Cossacks

Synopsis:
Two acts. An Officer in the British army with his Sergeant becomes an honoured friend to a group of exiles, becoming attached to a woman in the group. However, Whitehall plans the repatriation of all the exiles who are inconvenient. In the chaotic aftermath of the 2nd World War, the order comes for the Officer and his Sergeant to find a way, some kind of trick, to repatriate the exiles who now trust the British. Still trusting the British, the exiles go to their deaths. The Officer has to confront what he did and longs to be accused of a war crime in order that the story shall be told.
