Rosemary Foley has written over 70 plays, most of them satires and comedies. She won the 2004 Havemeyer award for Ophelia's Mother. She was a finalist at the 2004 Samuel French Off-Broadway Festival. In 2003 she was a finalist for the Heideman award at the actor's Theatre of Louisville's Humana Festival. Other competitions in which she was a finalist include: Victory Gardens Theatre, West Coast ensemble Theatre, and Theatre-by-the-SeA. She was a winner of the International Festival of New Works at University of Cincinnati. "Works by Women" chose her as one of its ten best writers. While her plays are frequently performed in New York, local audiences often get to see them first at the annual Theatre artists Workshop Playwright Festivals in Connecticut. examples: Leaving Her and Kerry Dancers each got staged readings this year in Westport and Norwalk. Rosemary Foley is a member of Dramatist Guild of America
