Cyril's Little Moments Of Weakness And Strength

Synopsis:
charts the relationship between two brothers in their late middle age. Josh, the older, is blind and wheelchair bound. Cyril, the younger, is a harassed yet committed carer. Whatever shreds of independence and fulfilment Cyril may once have had - have long since been whittled away and now the two of them are caught on the treadmill of their day to day existence. This is, by turns, very funny, exasperating and deeply sad. enter alice, just turned sixty and lonely, and there is a glimmer of hope for Cyril. the play is a sensitive, witty essay on human frailty from a brilliant storyteller.

Death Of A theatre Critic, The

Synopsis:
a short prologue introduces us to the themes of classic Greek tragedy regarding the notion of fate leading to inevitable death. We are then drawn into an intriguing cultural debate about the artistic and moral responsibilities regarding the creation and criticism of Dramatic performance. at the police station, theatre director Karlo Menning (Groth) is questioned about the sudden death from heart failure - the result of strangulation - of theatre critic Matteus Breck. Menning explains that he had recently directed a play evening With Lama which Breck had described in his review as dull and incomprehensible, perhaps implying more criticism of the direction than the play itself. While denying any knowledge of the death of the theatre critic, the Director clearly reveals feelings of bitter anger over the review, if not simmering hatred under his thin skin. In attacking and destroying his work in such a damning review, he believes the critic is a kind of murderer. What is more crucial than the who-dun-it murder story is the underlying argument over the power play and role of both a critic and a director.

Father Nandru & The Wolves

Father Nandru & The Wolves
A lost village, star-crossed lovers, mysterious wolves and the extraordinary story of a community trying to save what is most precious to them, before it is too late. Five hundred years ago, founding fathers built a log church in a small village deep in the heart of Transylvania where, 400 years on, the villagers still worship. When Eveline, the lop-faced daughter of a leading family, elopes with Vadim, the crippled son of a Roma dancing clan, the little village is sent into a frenzy. Only the priest, Father Nandru, is aware that just around the corner a far more dangerous threat is lurking, and that this community must put their differences aside if anything is to survive into the future.

Notes:
Written especially for Wilton's Music Hall by award-winning playwright Julian Garner and designed by Hanne Horte around the eccentricities of this unique and beautiful building, Father Nandru & The Wolves is a captivating folk tale, based on a true Romanian story and narrated in verse. Experience dream-like design, larger than life puppetry and some impressive feats of engineering. This will be Wilton's last full scale production before going under wraps & The Chrysalis Club emerges.

Kingdom Of Children

Pilgrims flock to a capital city for the Festival of the Nativity, incidentally bringing vital revenue to the failing economy. Large numbers of children roam the streets and the sewers underground and out of the resultant confrontations, a vision is born which starts an epic journey of the spirit. This dark and perceptive story, shot through with humour, exposes, above all, the breaking down of relationships between the young and old and seeks, to some degree, to find a remedy.
